Ingredients
Strawberry Banana Smoothie

1 medium Banana - frozen, peeled, sliced
1.5-2.5 cups Strawberries - frozen
0.5 cup Orange Juice
1-3 tbsps Honey
1 cup Milk
0.5 cup Vanilla Yogurt

Directions

  1. Banana should be peeled and sliced. Banana and strawberries are best frozen prior.
  2. Add liquids first into the blender - milk, vanilla yogurt and orange juice, then honey and finally the frozen banana and strawberries last.
  3. Start your blender a low setting and work up to a higher one, process until smooth.

Smoothie Tips

  • Thicker Smoothie: For a thicker strawberry banana smoothie, try freezing the peeled and chopped banana beforehand. You can also add some more frozen strawberries to thicken it up.
  • Thinner Smoothie: For a thinner smoothie, add a little milk, orange juice or water - tablespoons at a time after blending everything else.
  • Smoothie Sweetness: Adjust the amount of honey to make your smoothie sweeter or more tart.
  • Frozen Fruit: Using frozen fruit instead of fresh imparts a creamier texture to smoothies. This is particularly true for frozen bananas. It's easier to pre-prep the fruits (clean, peel, chop) into smaller pieces prior to freezing and is also easier on your blender.
  • Blender Manuvers: Some blenders can struggle with blending large fiberous chunks or loads of frozen fruit. One tip is to begin on a lower speed and gradually increase into higher ones. Another tip is to try pulse, let the solids settle for a second or two, and pulse a few more times to break down large chunks.
